Welcome. My name is Peter Strong, and I am a professional registered psychotherapist. I offer online therapy to help people overcome anxiety, depression, stress, and other difficult emotions. Online Therapy via Skype, allows you to have one-on-one sessions with me, where we can talk and see each other at the same time. This is a very convenient way for people who can’t see a local therapist or who would prefer to see someone different. It’s also very convenient for people who are traveling or living abroad. In fact, many of my clients are expats living abroad.

The online option is a great one to consider if it’s difficult for you to travel away from home to a therapist’s office, for example, if you are living abroad and can’t find a local therapist, or if you don’t like the local choices available in your area. Online therapy is also a good option if you are home bound or unable to leave home. Not surprisingly, I get a lot of requests from people suffering from agoraphobia who find it extremely challenging to leave home.

The style of therapy that I offer is called Mindfulness Therapy, which is a very exciting, very unique, alternative approach to the more traditional talk therapies that you’re probably familiar with. The whole focus of Mindfulness Therapy is to help you establish the right kind of relationship with your emotions so that you don’t become overwhelmed by them. Once you establish a Mindfulness relationship with your emotions, then it’s possible to start to look at the structure of those emotions and find out how they work. This often involves imagery.

For example, when a person feels overwhelmed by an emotion, right there, we have a clue in that language as to how they see that emotion internally. If they say, “I feel overwhelmed. It’s getting on top of me,” chances are they literally see that emotion inside as being above them, at a higher position to them. They see themselves as a small person with this looming emotion above them. Seeing this kind of structure really is very, very helpful because when you see it, then you can begin to change it. Once you change the structure of the emotion, the emotion itself changes.

This is one of the many of the unique principles behind Mindfulness Therapy. If you’re interested in exploring this further, please send me an email. Visit my website and send me your questions and describe the issues that you are working with, and we can begin an email correspondence to see if this is right for you, then go ahead and schedule a Skype session. Remember, my policy is that if you schedule a Skype session and you find, “No, this isn’t right for me,” there’s no charge. You only pay after a session and if you want to continue with online therapy with me. There’s nothing to lose for you.

Please, send me that email, and let’s discuss if online therapy is right for you. Thank you.

Online Therapy Sessions for Anxiety and Depression

Mindfulness Therapy is a very powerful way of working with stress, depression or dependence.

So Mindfulness Therapy is a way of, basically, learning the way to become more responsive, more free, less reactive and better able to deal with challenges and the triggers of your life.

Thus, fundamentally, the way we do this is that we identify those reactive ideas and also the emotion underneath the thought and then we establish a Mindfulness-Based Relationship with one of these thoughts; we truly learn how to meditate on emotions and the thoughts.

Rather than trying to push them away or prevent them we actually invite them into our awareness and sit together as in the event that you’re sitting using a kid or a friend. You establish a relationship based on conscious awareness, consciousness, and also the grade of friendliness.

We have to master the way to sit with our emotions, make friends with them and really care for them.

The majority of us are not used to the notion of caring for our negative thoughts or truly caring for our debilitating emotions. As you know, our instinct is to try and get rid of these, but that is unlikely to work. If you try and eliminate negative thoughts, of negative beliefs they simply get stronger, and if you make an effort to prevent them they only chase after you.

What really does make the change possible is when you cease running away from them and fighting them, but truly meditate on them. When you are doing that, you then cease feeding beliefs, ideas or memories that are painful to those reactive.

When you stop feeding them then they start to change, they begin to heal, they start to transform themselves because place of non-reactive comprehension that individuals create through the Mindfulness-Based Relationship that people have with them.

So, this really is a very effective method, in deed, particularly for working with stress as well as for conquering depression, also it’s a very good way of neutralizing those compulsive urges that we experience in dependency along with other forms of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, or OCD.

Therefore, if you’d like to find out more concerning this strategy, this Mindfulness Therapy approach to healing and transforming anxiety, depression, addictions and other mental problems, please e-mail me and then we can schedule an online treatment session via Skype.

Many people find fairly remarkable changes in very few sessions. Usually after 2-3 sessions you may detect very remarkable changes in the level of stress or depression and in the frequency of negative thinking.

So, if you are considering knowing more about this approach, please CONTACT ME and lets schedule an online therapy session. Thanks!

The Advantages of Online Therapy via Skype

Benefits of Online Therapy for the Treatment of Anxiety, Depression or Addictions

For those who have to move around the world frequently, online therapy has always been a big relieve. Therapy online is mental healthcare that you can take with you everywhere you go. With a phone or a laptop and internet connection, it becomes easy to speak with a therapist online from any part of the world.

Most people prefer online therapy sessions for the treatment of common disorders like anxiety and depression. They also find online therapy help useful in getting over various forms of addictions. The benefits of this form of therapy are so many and its effectiveness has been proven to be comparable to what can be expected from traditional therapy.

However, sometimes we do need face-to-face consultation with a therapy but such need may only arise if there is an emergency or if the health challenges are quite serious. Apart from emergencies and serious mental diseases that may require physical contact with a psychotherapist, it has been shown through research that online therapy is equally effective in a situation where traditional therapy is unavailable, too expensive, or undesirable to the patient.

In this article, you will learn the many reasons you might want to consider signing up for online therapy sessions. The benefits are quite general, that is, you can expect to get these benefits from any respectable website that offers online therapy services.

Unfortunately, it might a bit difficult to identify the best online therapists unless you are getting the service through an established and respected website like our own.

The benefits listed below are what you can expect when you sign up for our online therapy service.

  • Unrestricted Access From Remote Locations

Whether you are on vacation in Hawaii or on a business trip to a third world country, your treatment does not have to be postponed when you do online therapy unlike in conventional therapy. You can continue to communicate with your therapist online without a break in your recovery process. This is especially valuable when you are trying to cope with anxiety, depression or addictions that can affect your productivity at work and even your happiness during vacation.

  • Easy Entry and Exit

With online therapy help, there is usually no long waiting list to be attended to first. You also don’t have to go through a tedious process to join or make any huge financial commitment. Rather, starting and stopping online therapy is inexpensive and easy.

  • Access to Professional Psychotherapy For Bedridden/Disabled Patients

Anxiety, depression and addictions are disorders that affect all classes of people. This includes those who cannot leave their home due to physical or health constraints. You no longer have to wait until you are feeling well enough to travel to a psychologist’s office. Rather, as long can you can use your phone or laptop, you can easily get treatment from a therapist online.

  • Very Affordable Fees

Our online therapy services come at affordable prices, usually at a lesser price than what you would have been expected to pay per session to your local psychotherapist. You also get to save transportation cost and the stress of driving through traffic to see a therapist.

  • Diminished inhibition for Discussing Sensitive or Embarrassing Disorders

Some people are very shy or anxious in social situations. This fear or shyness can prevent them from going to see a therapist. On the other hand, if they can do it over the internet, they might be more willing to seek help and more expressive.

Also, some who are addicted to alcohol, drugs or sex might be more comfortable speaking about it with online therapists than when they have to face a local therapist.

  • Increased Knowledge About Mental Health and Self Development

Most people only go to see a therapist when there is a serious mental disease; they are usually not as forthcoming when the disorder is as simple as anxiety. But with the rising popularity of online therapy, we have seen people learning a lot more than they ever knew about themselves through the simple experience of speaking to a therapist online.

After our sessions, in addition to healing their disorders, some of our patients reported suddenly having a clearer sense of direction for their lives.

  • Anonymity

When convincing the reluctant, it always help to remind them that the online therapist they will be speaking to may not even need to know there true identity, and that the chance they will ever run into the therapist at the post office is almost nonexistent.

  • Flexibility Email counseling

With real time instant chat therapy sessions, there is usually a commitment to meet with your therapist online at certain periods. However, if you want increased flexibility, our email counseling does not require you to respond when you are too busy. You just respond when you can and our therapist would be on the other end to carry on the conversation.

  • Join Couples in Different Locations Together for Family Therapy

If you need marriage counseling and your spouse is hardly around, online therapy is your best bet. Both of you can easily connect with a therapist online to discuss whatever issues that might exist. This way you get to solve your problems as soon as they arise without having to wait until you both have enough time to physically attend a therapy session.

  • Targeted Group Therapy Sessions for Less common disorders

For common disorders like anxiety, it might be easy for your local psychotherapist to organize group therapy. However, when we talk about other less common mental diseases, like specific addictions, it might not be as easy to form a group. This is where online therapy help comes in handy; when you are not restricted to a local community, it becomes easy to organize group therapy for any mental health challenge.

  • Ability To Review Your Sessions Through Transcript

The fact that you can always review your online therapy sessions is another big plus. It is a way to remind yourself of what you should be doing if you ever see yourself relapsing into the same addiction or disorder.

To sign up for our online therapy service, contact me right now via email and I will give you all the information you need.

Online Therapy – A Very Good Choice for You

Online Therapy has become a very popular choice for many people. Convenience has to be one of the main reasons why people seek therapy online. Many professional people do not have the time to leave work to drive to a therapist’s office. Mothers with young children find it inconvenient to leave home and would rather not have to hire child care. The elderly or those with a disability find it difficult to leave home. Whatever the reason, convenience is an important factor for successful therapy.

There are also many people who would like the help of a therapist, but find the whole experience of going to a therapist’s office to be far too intimidating. If you are suffering from social anxiety, shyness or general anxiety and tend to become easily overwhelmed, then being able to get the help you need from an Online  Therapist is a very attractive option.

If you are suffering from agoraphobia, the online option may be the best choice available for you because the challenge of leaving the security of your home is just too great. Working with  therapist online can give you the help you need to overcome your anxiety.

Yet another reason why people turn to the internet for psychological help is that people want more choice in finding the right therapist to work with. What is available locally may not meet your needs, or you may prefer not to work with someone in your local community. Many of the clients who come to me for online therapy live in rural locations in the US, and some live or abroad and do not have access to a local therapist.

But, one of the favorite reasons why people come to me for therapy, is that many people are searching for a better alternative to traditional talking therapy. In fact, most of my clients have already tried this route and feel that the traditional approach simply does not help them change the underlying problem. Talking about our problems is important, but it is not always enough to resolve the underlying anxiety, panic attacks, depression or other emotional suffering.

I have developed a system called Mindfulness Therapy, a system that I devised in the 1980s that is really effective for anxiety and other forms of emotional stress. This system of therapy is designed to teach you how to change the underlying emotions that create stress, anxiety and depression. Skype Therapy sessions are a combination of teaching and practical work – all designed to give you the skills you need to change your habitual patterns of emotional reactivity –  all designed to stop you from being a victim of your painful emotions, so that you can heal and move on. Mindfulness Therapy contains elements of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) but it focuses more on changing and healing the underlying emotions that fuel reactive thinking.

How Does Online Therapy Work?

When you schedule a session you will be able to talk to a professional therapist via Skype and have a face-to-face session just as if you were in the therapist’s office, but with the added advantage that you never have to leave home. All you need is Skype and a webcam to enable video calls.

The sessions that I offer are a combination of teaching and practical experiential exercises designed to help you work in a more positive way with your emotions, in a way that promotes change and healing. Sessions are typically 90min in length, which is much longer than traditional talking therapy sessions, and this allows us sufficient time for both teaching and practical work. Typically, you will want to schedule one session per week, which will give you enough time to practice what you learn in each session before the following session. In this way, each online session builds on the previous session and after 4-6 sessions you will have developed very effective skills for healing your anxiety or managing your stress.

Online Therapy Help for Anxiety and Depression

Online Counseling or Therapy refers to an internet-based service that allows you, the client, to seek professional help for managing common emotional problems such as anxiety, panic attacks, depression and stress. This is not a totally new concept and in fact Freud, the founder of psychotherapy, would frequently use correspondence through letter writing to help his clients.

Email correspondence has taken the place of letter writing and now online chat is very popular, allowing you to get immediate advice or assistance from a therapist or counselor.

Today, we have videoconferencing technologies such as Skype that allow client and therapist to see each other. This provides a huge advance over the written-only forms of psychotherapy, because the visual element add a tremendous amount to the quality to the communication. Indeed, Skype Therapy is rapidly becoming the dominant form of Online Therapy, and for a growing number of people Online Therapy is the first choice over office visits. Many people feel much more comfortable talking online through Skype than in person. It is less far intimidating, and this can be very important if you suffer from anxiety and panic attacks or have problems with self-esteem and self-confidence.

How to Find an Online Therapist

Simply do a Google search for ‘Online Therapy’, ‘Online Therapist’ or ‘Internet Therapy’ and you will discover pages of services to browse and select from. Many of these sites provide a good service, but make sure that you can read about the therapist that you will be working with. You want to get a feel that the therapist you are considering is suitable for your needs; that he/she is compassionate and has an approach that is in agreement with your personal beliefs and life experience.

Training is one factor to consider, but not necessarily a reliable guarantee that the therapist will be effective. This applies just as much to in-person therapy as it does to online therapy. Many people turn to me after spending years in traditional talking therapy; and most of my clients want a different approach and recognize that “talking” about emotions is just not enough.

Remember also, that not all schools of psychotherapy are the same, so you want to be sure to select an approach that is going to work for you.

I provide Mindfulness Therapy, as an example, which I find works remarkably well online. Generally the Cognitive approaches such as CBT and Mindfulness-based CBT work well because there is a strong emphasis on teaching you practical skills and tools for managing your anxiety or other emotional problems.

Generally, Online Therapy is more cost-effective than office visits, which is another factor to consider. I also prefer that you do not have to pay before a session, but after completion of a session. That way you are more protected.

Online Therapy is an exciting new development and definitely worth considering seriously. It gives you flexibility and many more choices for finding exactly the right person to help you overcome your emotional problems and find greater happiness in your personal life and in your relationships.

Talk with a psychotherapist over Skype

It is now quite common for people to seek online therapy for help with anxiety or depression or other emotional problems – It is both more convenient and more comfortable for you, and this is an important factor for a successful therapy experience.

People like the greater privacy and anonymity of online counseling and feel much more at ease. Like most people, you probably find it difficult to express your feelings, and like most people you probably find that most of your family members or friends have a hard time understanding why you are feeling the way you do. T

he first function of finding a counselor or psychotherapist to work with is to find someone who will listen and understand the process you are going through. This is certainly an important part of the function of the online therapy sessions that I provide. But talking alone is not enough.

We need to work on transforming the underlying cause, the process that creates your anxiety, depression, addiction or other emotional problems. This is very much a core approach in Mindfulness Therapy.

Learn about the benefits of online therapy

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong and I am a professional therapist living in Boulder, Colorado. I offer online therapy help via Skype. Now, online therapy is becoming very popular these days, lately because of it’s convenience, but also because it’s generally more enjoyable for the client; far less intimidating than having to meet a therapist in his or her office. And this is very important; you need to feel comfortable with the process in order to be able to learn how to manage your anxiety or depression or addictions, or other issues that you are dealing with.

So, the online therapy option is now becoming very common indeed. So, I offer online therapy for anxiety disorders, including social anxiety, agoraphobia, panic attacks, and general anxiety disorders. I also offer online therapy for depression, and online therapy is a good choice for working with addictions, too. Again, it is more comfortable for you, as the client. Sometimes people are embarrassed talking about their emotions in front of a group or even in front of a therapist in person. It’s just easier talking to a therapist online.

The style of therapy that I offer online is called Mindfulness Therapy, and this is very, very effective for anxiety, particularly. It’s a way of teaching you how to sit with your emotions, how to be present with your emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them. And this is the essential first step for overcoming anxiety, panic attacks, depression and addictions. You have to be able to form a relationship with your emotions; you have to be able to sit with them. And that way, you create the right conditions in which they can start to heal.

Send me an email and ask your questions about online therapy and I will be happy to answer your questions, and then we can schedule a Skype session. So, please, contact me. Thank you!

Online Therapy for Overcoming Anxiety and for Managing Depression

During Skype therapy sessions we will work on transforming the underlying cause of your emotional suffering using mindfulness-based psychology and methods. The two primary areas we will work on are:

1) changing your relationship to your emotions and reactive thoughts so that you can retain balance and break the habit of becoming identified with your thoughts. Most people simply become overwhelmed by their thoughts and emotions which cause them to proliferate creating more suffering, more anxiety and more depression. Mindfulness Therapy teaches you how to change this habit so that you effectively stop fueling the fire. In fact, we often call this phase of Mindfulness Therapy, “learning to sit by the fire (your emotions) without being burnt.”

2) investigating the structure of your emotions. Emotions have a structure based on internal psychological imagery – the way you see your thoughts and emotions in the mind. This is immensely important to uncover and central to successful change and healing. Basically, the more you see of this emotional imagery the more things will change for the better. You can actually consciously change your emotional imagery and help it resolve into a new structure. When the imagery changes so does the emotion.

What is the difference between Online Therapy and Online Counseling?

There is not much difference in practice, except that an Online Counselor will tend to focus more on the teaching side of psychotherapy, whereas an Online Therapist focuses more on the transformation process itself. Online counseling is also what most people understand as “talk therapy” in which you gain relief (catharsis) through the process of verbally expressing your feelings. This form of “venting” will certainly bring temporary relief, but it needs to be understood that talking about your emotions will not necessarily transform the underlying psychological process that creates the anxiety, depression, stress or other emotion. That is where psychotherapy comes in.

An Online Therapist helps you release the inner emotional tension that has become stuck, whereas an Online Counselor will try to help you look at your problems in a different way, from a different and more positive perspective. Both approaches are required, because transformation depends on the depth of understanding you have about your inner beliefs and patterns of negative habitual thinking as well as how to create the right inner conditions that allow painful emotions to heal.

Tell me about yourself. Tell me about the emotional problems you are struggling with. Ask your questions about Online Therapy. Let me help you.

Talk Therapy Can Help You with Your Anxiety or Depression

Talk Therapy” is a general name given to psychotherapy, seen as an alternative, and often a preferred choice, to treatments involving antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications prescribed by an MD. Often the two approaches are recommended together in what is called “combined therapy.” The medications reduce symptoms and psychotherapy helps you change the underlying cause of your emotional problems.

There are many schools of psychotherapy, ranging from psychoanalysis to body-centered therapies. There is no single school of “talking therapy” and you should make the effort to find an approach that fits your personal needs and beliefs. There are two objectives that you should look for when you select a “talking therapist.” The first function of good talking therapy is to give you the opportunity to express your emotions. It is often hard to find a friend or partner who can really listen to you. Most people are not very comfortable with “raw” emotions and are not able to provide an open space in which you can express yourself. A good therapist can provide a safe space in which you can express your emotions without fear of criticism, judgement or unhelpful advice.

The second function of a good therapist (online or in the office) is to help you change the way that you relate to your emotional pain from the usual response of reactivity and aversion to one of genuine care and listening within. This is a very important principle that is essential for healing your anxiety or depression, anger or grief. You have to learn how to listen internally to your emotions if you want them to change and heal.

The Best Online Talk Therapy Available

Today, CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a popular choice and the newer Mindfulness-based forms of Cognitive Therapy, including the Mindfulness Therapy that I offer, are becoming increasingly popular. These therapies tend to require far fewer sessions than the older analytical therapies and are more empowering for individuals because they give you the tools for actively managing your emotions.

Seeking help from a therapist does not carry the social stigma that it once did. Today, most people are open to the idea of seeking help to improve the quality of our emotional and spiritual life and to improve communication skills and conflict resolution in our personal relationships. Everyone recognizes the importance of effective stress management and anger management. Now you can receive the help you need online. Here is a brief check list of emotional problems for which you might consider Online Talking Therapy:

  • Chronic anxiety and worrying
  • Periods of depression and fatigue
  • Poor self-image and low self-esteem
  • Performance anxiety
  • Low self-confidence
  • Panic attacks and phobias
  • Feeling overwhelmed and over-stressed
  • Prolonged grief and sense of loss
  • Emotional difficulties arising from childhood abuse – emotional or physical
  • Anger problems
  • Problem with addictions to alcohol
  • Addictions and Compulsions – work, shopping, etc.
  • Relationship problems

The list is endless, because life is difficult and we are not taught how to work with stress and painful emotions. You are not sick because you are struggling with the emotional stresses of life, you are simply human. Of course, there are clinical disorders for which you should seek medical help, and if you are at risk of self-harm or causing harm to others then you should seek local help from a doctor or other authority first.

However, most people simply want some practical help with managing their anxiety or depression or other emotional problems, and for this, more and more people are turning to the internet for Online Counseling. This is a chance for you to talk with a professional about your emotional suffering and get quality help in learning how to heal your emotional suffering and become a happier person. It is most definitely possible to find greater happiness. It just takes a little work and  some practical guidance.

I have developed Mindfulness Therapy for the internet and offer personal, individual sessions via Skype, which allows us to talk as if we are in the same room. This service is proving to be very popular, so if you are interested please contact me today to check on availability.
